...Enjoy the calm and charm of this great forest (11,000 ha), on whose summit (le Moure de la Gardille – 1503m) the Allier, the Langouyrou and the Chassezac rivers rise. Its altitude reaches between 970 and 1503 m. At the heart of the forest lies the old Cistercian nunnery of Mercoire, now converted into a farm. Mercoire forest is famous for being the place where many people were attacked by the Beast of Gévaudan during the 18th century (1764 to 1767).
You can practice many activities there, including hiking, trail riding, and mountain biking.
