Stevenson’s Path GR70

Robert Louis Stevenson

On the 22nd of September 1878, a young Scottish writer named Robert Louis STEVENSON left Monastier-sur-Gazeille, in the Haute-Loire, on foot with his donkey Modestine, and joined St-Jean-du-Gard after having walked 220 km in 12 days.
His travel log, published under the title "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes" in 1879, introduced the region and many hikers now follow Stevenson’s footsteps to discover this beautiful French region.

Nowadays, Stevenson’s path is known as the GR 70, and passes through the canton and Langogne, Fouzillac, Cheylard l’Evêque, Luc, La Bastide...
