History of the Naussac DamThe River Allier’s rate is very irregular, thus it can flow through Langogne, Lozère at the rate of 1 cubic metre per second to over 1,200 cubic metres per second during the big autumn floods. Low water levels over long periods can cause shortages in drinking water supplies, as well as for agriculture and industry. These water shortages began occurring more and more, and were becoming harmful to the lives of the river itself and of the locals. Therefore, NAUSSAC was constructed in order to regulate the Allier’s flow. The construction was state-approved on the 6th of February 1976. |
Visiting Naussac DamVisits of the inside of the dam have been suspended since the Vigi-pirate security policy was set up in September 2001...
However, the Langogne Tourist Office proposes an outdoor guided tour for groups.
